To take oneself too seriously is to destroy all that is spontaneous and real , leaving nothing but a pompous shell.
Cette collection d'auto-caricatures le disent bien: Il ne faut jamais se prendre trop au sérieux.
This collection of
self-caricatures says it all:
Taking oneself too seriously
is silly.
(1960s and 70's sketches)
A Portrait of Me
Gordon, a young student
sketched this likeness
of me many, many years
ago. I have always held
onto it. It is an extremely
good likeness of both my
physicality and my soul. (I
hope Gordon has
continued sketching. . . )
Another Portrait of Me
This is a very precious
portrait. It is a sketch of
me created in 1975
by a very special boy
of seven. I am sure
he went on to become
as wonderful an adult
as he was a boy.
Much love and all the
best to you Andrew.
Elly Kish,The extraordinary
painter of all things
and portraits, did this fine
charcoal drawing of me
in my "youth". (1972)
Poulin Self-Portrait
(2000)
This is one self portrait
I consider succesful.
Beard - 1976
This self-portrait belongs to my brother Gerry.
(Gerry has a wondrous sense of humour)
He thought it worth preserving. . . The theme
is the process of shaving off a beard. . .
(Serious art it ain't!)
